Working a 9-5 job every day can be tough, especially when it comes to maintaining your fitness schedule. Your mornings may seem too hectic to get a good workout in and sometimes you don’t have enough time to hit the gym at night. If you want to start working out during your lunch hour here are a few tips for a successful workout.
Bring your gym essentials to work. Pack a bag the night before with workout clothes, a small towel, deodorant, face wipes, and whatever else you may need. Having everything with you makes it easy to go to a nearby gym, a quick run, or a walk during your lunch hour.
Plan your workout ahead of time. You don’t want to be wandering around the gym, deciding between lifting weights or running on the treadmill when you get there. Have a set plan of what you want to do that day so you are efficient with your time.
The intensity of your workout is important. Because you are exercising in such a short period of time, it is important to make sure you are working extra hard to get the most out of your quick workout. Ramp up your normal workout routine to fit into your lunchtime.
Quick showers are key. No one wants to go back to the office sweaty and uncomfortable. Plan on taking a quick shower, rinsing off, applying dry shampoo, reapplying makeup if needed so you feel refreshed for the rest of the day.
Don’t forget lunch! Pack a light lunch that you can eat at your desk when you come back. A grilled chicken salad, tuna wrap, smoothie, or meal with protein is great for refueling after a quick intense workout.
